| Wisconsin real estate licenses for salespersons
are issued by the
Wisconsin Department of Regulation
and Licensing (DRL). After completing the
required education and
passing the real estate licensing exam, an applicant is required
to submit a license application to the DRL. The application must include proof of completed
education or credentials and proof the applicant passed the real
estate licensing exam.
All real estate licenses are issued or renewed for the
remainder of a two-year licensing period which ends on December
14 of each even-numbered year. Approval of an application will
include a review of criminal convictions or actions against any
other license held by the applicant and confirmation of the
completion of the
appropriate education and exam requirements.
If you have questions as to how prior criminal convictions or
actions are factored into the licensing process, contact the
Wisconsin DRL.
Resident Applicants
Wisconsin resident applicants for Salesperson must qualify for
the salesperson's examination and a

or real estate-related law courses at an accredited
institution of higher education (NOTE: Applicants

Regulation and Licensing for approval of credit courses
prior to applying for examination.);

Wisconsin.

Applicants with a real estate sales license from
another state must meet certain Wisconsin-mandated
sales
prelicense
education requirements and pass the real estate licensing exam.
Out-of-State Licensee
Applicants
Nonresident applicants who do not hold a license in
another state must meet the requirements
as resident applicants.
If an out-of-state licensee
applicant has held an active salesperson's license in another
state within the two years preceding application for Wisconsin's
licensure, the applicant may take the
WRA's Wisconsin
Reciprocity Course prior to sitting for the real estate
salesperson's exam. A copy of the
