Federal Lead-Based Paint Rules
The federal lead-based paint rules are designed to protect
families from lead poisoning due to exposure to lead-based paint
hazards. According to the Wisconsin Division of Housing, half of
the housing in every Wisconsin county has some lead-based paint.
The rules require sellers of "target housing" to
disclose known information on lead-based paint and lead-based
paint to buyers. Sellers are also required to provide buyers
with certain records and the lead hazard information booklet, as
well as include certain disclosure and acknowledgment language
in an attachment to the sales contract.
A REALTORŪ can make sure that the seller provides you with
the required materials and that the sales contract includes the
correct attachment.
