General Questions

Q. How can I prepare for the Wisconsin real estate sales exam?

A. Sales Reciprocity Video Class

An out-of-state licensee has educational requirements called reciprocity that differ from the educational requirements that must be met for an original real estate license. This can be done entirely through video.

The material consists of a sales reciprocity course book containing the required state curriculum, and the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code book created by the Department of Regulation and Licensing.

When you complete the course work and receive the certificate of completion from the WRA, you can then take the Wisconsin real estate exam. A copy of the out-of-state license must be submitted to the Department of Regulation and Licensing with the application for licensure.

A. Out of state applicants must hold an active real estate broker's license in another licensing jurisdiction within the 2 year period prior to filing an application for an original real estate broker's license and must submit one of the following as proof of completion of the education requirements prior to examination:

a) Submit proof of completion of 3 designated hours of broker educational requirements at a Wisconsin approved school, AND if the applicant does not hold a Wisconsin salesperson's license, submit proof of completion of 13 designated hours of salesperson education requirements at a Wisconsin-approved school

b) Submit a transcript showing 20 academic semester-hours credit in real estate or real estate related law completed at an accredited institution of higher education

c) Submit a photocopy of a current bar membership or a certificate of good standing in the Wisconsin State Bar.

This course work is offered on distance learning DVD or On Demand. The course material consists of a set of text books and video footage to satisfy the 3 hour requirement. Please see www.wra.org/Education/Pre-license/Reciprocity.asp for further details.
