Education Questions

Q. How can I earn the GREEN designation?

A. REALTORS® can earn NAR's Green Designation by completing the following three obejctives: Take and pass the 2-day Green Designation Course, take and pass one of three one-day Elective courses, and submit the GREEN Application Form to the GREEN RESOURCE COUNCIL along with proof of completion of your elective course.

Q. What are the elective course topics?

A. Elective course topics include Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, and Property Management. You can take as many of the elective courses as you like, but you are only required to complete one to earn NAR's Green Designation.

Q. What are the requirements to maintain NAR's Green Designation after earning it?

A. Designees must be members (and maintain membership) in the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® either as a REALTOR® member or Institute Affiliate member, as well as members of the Green Resource Council.

Q. How much are the annual dues for the Green Resource Council?

A. New Designees receive a free one-year membership in the Green Resource Council. After the first year, annual dues are $99.

Q. What is the cost of annual REBAC membership?

A. REBAC annual membership dues are $110.00. Your first year's membership in REBAC is included free with successful completion of the ABRŪ Designation Course.  Dues are billed annually, with your first dues invoice pro-rated to bring your membership to a calendar billing cycle.

Q. Why would I want to earn the ABR designation?

A. This designation identifies you as a real estate agent who has demonstrated a serious commitment to the practice of buyer agency. It shows that you have received professional training above and beyond the minimum requirements for licensing and that you are committed to providing top-level service.

Q. I earned my ABR in one state, but am now preparing to be licensed in another. Is my ABR still valid?

A. Yes, once you have earned the ABR, all other states will recognize it.

Q. I noticed that my ABR designation does not appear in NRDS. How do I get this to appear?

A. The WRA is your point of entry for ABR data for NRDS. Please email us at educate@wra.org and we will submit the information to NRDS.

Q. I have earned the ABR designation, but am planning to disaffiliate from the REALTORSŪ organization. May I still use the designation on my business card and marketing materials?

A. No. In order to use the ABR designation mark, you must be a member in good standing with the National Association of REALTORSŪ.
