Sheboygan County REALTORS® Unite to Promote $8,000 Tax Credit
Share

Date: August 12, 2009

SHEBOYGAN, WI – The Sheboygan County Board of REALTORS®, at the suggestion of a group of broker members and lender affiliate members, developed a public awareness campaign entitled “August Home Buyers Month” to promote the $8,000 tax credit to county residents.

The campaign included a “pre-qualify” weekend on August 8 and 9 with local lenders pre-qualifying buyers, and an Open House Weekend on August 15-16 with 126 open houses on Saturday and 288 open houses on Sunday. A Condo Open House weekend is planned for August 23.

Other components of the campaign include:

  • Sign riders promoting the tax credit used on listings throughout the county - some 1,150 signs have been placed on all types of listings;
  • A banner that lenders and brokers can place on their buildings or in front of them (22 banners are currently displayed throughout the county);
  • “Uncle Sam” attending parades, festivals, and some real estate offices throughout the county handing out fliers advertising the tax credit and deadline for closing, as well as the home buyer Web site, wisconsinhomebuyer.org.

The goal of the campaign, which is taking place through the month of August, is to unite the members of the Sheboygan County Board of REALTORS® and educate the public about the credit in an effort to boost sales and stimulate the local economy.
