One of the fastest growing areas of criminal activity in financial crimes is mortgage fraud. Fraud involves two parties: one makes a false statement of fact material to the business involved and the other party relies on that statement to his or her detriment. Additionally, predatory lending has many characteristics that include high-pressure sales tactics and exceedingly high interest rates and inflated fees charged to homeowners regardless of their credit history. As a real estate professional looking out for your clients' best interests, it's important to understand and help your clients avoid these risky financial hazards.
