Date: October 1, 2017

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA) installed Peter Sveum of Stoughton as its new chairman of the board at its annual convention held in Milwaukee last month. Sveum will head one of Wisconsin's largest trade associations, representing over 15,500 real estate brokers, salespeople and affiliates statewide. He succeeds the WRA's 2016-17 chairman, Erik Sjowall of Madison.

Sveum, a fourth-generation Stoughton native, began his career in the real estate industry in 1973. Sveum is the president of Coldwell Banker Success in Stoughton and operates the brokerage with Phil Sveum, his business partner and brother.

Sveum is active in various leadership roles in the industry. In addition to his service on the WRA leadership, Sveum also sits on the board of directors for the South Central Wisconsin Multiple Listing Service (SCWMLS) and serves on the REALTORS® Association of South Central Wisconsin's (RASCW) professional standards committee. Sveum's past leadership roles include serving as chairman of the real estate board for the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing and serving as president for both SCWMLS and RASCW.

Outside of real estate, Sveum is currently involved in leadership roles for the Stoughton Police and Fire Commission, Stoughton Hospital Foundation and the Stoughton Redevelopment Authority. Sveum previously held leadership positions with the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, Mandt Community Ice Arena and the Stoughton Youth Hockey Association.
