WRA Gives Chairman’s Citation Award to Sen. Tom Tiffany

Date: October 1, 2017

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA) recently awarded the Chairman's Citation Award to Sen. Tom Tiffany at the WRA annual convention held in Milwaukee last month.

Sen. Tiffany was elected to the state Assembly in 2010 where he served as a state representative of the 35th Assembly District. In 2012, Tom was elected to the state Senate to represent the 12th Senate District located in northeastern Wisconsin and continues to represent the 12th Senate District.

Sen. Tiffany has been a strong supporter of private property rights issues. Specifically, he has worked to protect waterfront property owners' rights in the areas of shoreland zoning, piers and other DNR regulations. This session, Sen. Tiffany was one of the primary leaders in the legislature to remove the state's forestry program from the property tax, which lowers property taxes statewide by approximately $90 million per year.

Also this session, Sen. Tiffany co-authored the Homeowners Bill of Rights with Rep. Adam Jarchow. Two of the key provisions in this legislation include grandfathering all substandard lots in the state and establishing a reasonable framework for conditional use permits at the local level.

The Chairman's Citation Award was established by the WRA in 1998. The purpose of the award is to provide recognition to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the association or to the real estate industry.
