Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification
Designed for real estate professionals at all experience levels, the National Association of REALTORS®' Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) certification provides a framework for understanding how to:
- Direct distressed sellers to finance, tax and legal professionals.
- Qualify sellers for short sales.
- Develop a short-sale package.
- Negotiate with lenders.
- Tap into buyer demand.
- Safeguard your commission.
- Limit risk.
- Protect buyers.
Agents' ability to close short sales and foreclosures depends in part on their confidence in seeing these transactions through. Begin building your confidence today with SFR.
Knowing how to help sellers maneuver the complexities of short sales as well as help buyers pursue short sale and foreclosure opportunities are not merely good skills to have in today’s market — they are critical. And while short sales and foreclosures are not for the faint of heart, agents with the proper tools and training can use these specialty areas to build their business for the long term.
NAR's Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC) has been offering its Short Sales and Foreclosures Course since fall 2006. In October 2009, REBAC and NAR unveiled a completely revised course and launched the SFR certification, for which the Short Sales and Foreclosures Courses from REBAC and the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS), an affiliate of NAR, are considered qualifying education.
SFRs are provided with the following benefits:
- Customizable marketing materials and press releases.
- Periodic free webinars.
- Monthly newsletter.
- Members-only networking community.
- Differentiation at REALTOR.org and White Pages at REALTOR.com.
- Usage of the SFR logo and name.
Bonus! The one-day Short Sales and Foreclosures courses available from REBAC and CRS are approved electives for the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations, respectively.
