Convention Recap

What a great time it was! Over 1,100 Wisconsin REALTORS¬ģ attended the 2019 WRA annual convention, held last month at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. Attendees enjoyed workshops and CE classes, networking opportunities, exhibits and keynote speakers.

Before the convention officially kicked off on September 10, REALTORS¬ģ got together in the Dells on September 9 for the convention golf outing and the Ninja Selling course. Golfers enjoyed a putting contest, prizes, beer and lunch; while students in the Ninja Class picked up new negotiating strategies, habits to generate more business, and systems to create continuous flows of buyers.

Convention Day 1

Day 1 was the perfect mix between work and play. The day began with the Convention Kickoff/Networking Breakfast. More than 100 REALTORS¬ģ networked together over a breakfast buffet and listened to 2018-19 WRA Chairman Jean Stefaniak and WRA President & CEO Mike Theo recognize extraordinary REALTORS¬ģ who were 2019‚Äôs award recipients. Later that morning during Opening Session, Steve Beers of Keefe Real Estate was installed as the 2019-20 WRA chairman of the board along with the 2019-20 leadership team and board of directors. Keynote speaker and real estate guru Terry Watson tickled everyone‚Äôs funny bone with his ‚ÄúI Smell What You‚Äôre Stepping In‚ÄĚ address about why it‚Äôs critical for REALTORS¬ģ to openly communicate with clients and help their clients understand all the steps throughout the transaction.

Also on Day 1, convention attendees browsed over 70 exhibits and learned about products and services relevant for real estate practice. In addition to visiting exhibits, convention guests took part in CE courses as well as several workshops.

The convention this year offered a new twist with workshops. Workshops were grouped into four types of education tracks to meet the needs of every REALTOR¬ģ. New agents, veteran agents, brokers and commercial practitioners found workshops in an education track designed just for their business. Plus, this year‚Äôs convention had more panels in store than ever before. Every education track offered panel workshops where attendees gained new insight from some of Wisconsin real estate‚Äôs top experts.

Day 1 continued with the chairman‚Äôs reception in the evening where newly installed chairman Steve Beers visited with REALTORS¬ģ over hors d‚Äôoeuvres, drinks and live music. Later that night, guests danced the night away at the Icebreaker Party with live music from Madison-based band SuperTuesday and enjoyed games, a photo op, drinks, appetizers and more.¬†

Convention Day 2

Day 2 began with more education tracks, real estate CE and appraisal CE. Later in the morning, Michael Staver spoke about the client experience in his ‚ÄúHow to Create an Exceptional Customer Experience‚ÄĚ address during General Session. Michael explained how and why improving your customer experience will help your clients come back to you when it‚Äôs time for a future real estate transaction. Plus, a lucky winner during General Session also took home $500 in the convention raffle drawing.

See you next year at the convention at the Kalahari Resort on September 15-16, 2020, in Wisconsin Dells!

Thank  YOU!
