With Foxconn’s recent announcement to build a multibillion-dollar plant in Wisconsin to manufacture flat screens, Wisconsin has a unique opportunity to attract a major employer to the state.

What's in play

Proposal: The WRA will work with legislators to help pass this legislation during a special session this fall. See the article, "Game-changer: Five Ways Foxconn Will Impact Wisconsin's Real Estate Industry" for more information about this legislation.

Background

  • ¬†The new Foxconn plant will create up to 13,000 jobs and could generate over $10 billion in capital investment in Wisconsin.
  • The benefits to both southeast Wisconsin and other parts of the state will be magnified by the ripple effect that results when these new workers purchase homes and other real estate investments in Wisconsin. ¬†
  • The economic benefits from Foxconn will extend beyond southeast Wisconsin as Foxconn will purchase an estimated $1.4 billion in materials and products from other Wisconsin companies to support its manufacturing activities.

Bill status

This legislation was introduced by Gov. Scott Walker and passed through the state Assembly and is currently in the state Senate.

The WRA engages in advocacy on behalf of REALTORS¬ģ¬†and property owners through a variety of programs including the REALTORS¬ģ¬†Political Action Committee and the Wisconsin Homeowners Alliance.¬†¬†
